I've been in Brussels (at the Belgian Beer Weekend -11 th of 4 to 6 September), my hotel was in the 7 Boulevard Adolphe Max., So every day to go downtown and visit Brussels, passed by the bakery PAUL, every day I stand in front of their windows to admire the bread and things that were there, it's something I love. When he returned to Spain Sunday 6th I bought two breads and I brought them to my house. One was a Brioche and a raisin bread (both delicious ummmmmmmm that rich !!!!).
"When you can put a franchise in Spain this bakery PAUL? Think that would be all right to buy bread and things so rich that it sells in Brussels here in Madrid.
Many greetings from Madrid (Spain)

very high standard in paul. i was blown away by the great staff who really care about the customers. the macaroons were outstanding that i gave them double price of what they cost. it was so hygenic tht when i rubbed my hands on the walls they got cleaner! very reasonable price for what everything is. i'm sure that paul is a gret example. thank you paul for giving the breakfast ever! i rated one hundred stars! its possible you know.
I really like the bread variety at Paul. Their sandwiches and some of their pastry is good too. But as far as service goes they are dreadful. The service is slow, unfriendly and often they get the order wrong. I have been given raisin bread in place of olive bread many times. And last time the bread was completely burnt. Who in their right mind dare to serve/sell burnt bread to customer? NOONE! Not at their prices!!
They charge extra for "eating in" but they hardly bother to clean the tables or organise the eating areas. It is a mess and you have to ask for extra napkins so that you can clean the previous diner's mess. This is unacceptable.
Also, their eat-in menu is terrible. A thin slice of bread, practically burnt with a sliver of goat's cheese.. 9 euro?? what a rip-off. And what is with the coffee?? How much does it cost to invest in a proper coffee machine that can also make cappuccinos. Not much. Even my home expresso machine is better quality than Paul's.
I suggest Paul re-trains their staff and adds a bit of class to their brand and gets their act together on the coffee.
I really like the sandwiches and the breads of Paul. Their cakes are also almost always good and fresh. But the staff is very very slow, uninterested in serving you and the coffee is BAD BAD BAD. Watery brown water. yuk!
Paul needs to re-train the staff, because they really act like they don't care. They have given me the wrong bread many a times (how hard is it to distinguish between olives and raisins) and last time it was completely burnt on the bottom. If a little care was taken this could have been avoided.
And they charge extra for the "dine-in" experience but they don't wipe the tables EVER. It is a little more than disappointing.
Knockout !! Delicious coffee and Viennoise au Chocolate for breakfast daily, consumed at leisure upstairs despite shop full of customers by 8.30 a.m. Staff friendly & helpful. Took away a few spare pastries to see us through each day. Delighted to see there are many London branches of equal standard - am aiming to move close to one soon !
