The drinks are delicious and perfect as an accompaniment cupcakes. By cons, personal level this is not the top! The waitresses are not very smiling and not very dynamic. I much prefer, the staff of the coffee company located rue du Midi. After it is true, I just there to enjoy a good drink and not talk to the waitresses but still a little smile, that's cool too.
The last place I would go for Brunch and I am very rarely this unsatisfied. You really have to push me to breaking point which almost never happens except here. If you don't know something is wrong then you can't change it, so here goes:
I have been there twice for brunch, and twice I almost wanted to kill the staff. The first time I went, it seemed great. Good location, cosy & homey interior design and good atmosphere.
I was lost with the vast array of choice.
So, I asked the buffet waiter how the brunch worked, to which he responded he had just finished his shift, was busy doing something else and that I had to ask the waitress behind the counter. So I did. When I asked the waitress "how does the brunch work", she tells me that I have to ask the waiter (the one in charge of the buffet). So back to him I go. Then he explains that I can have a selection of food but that I have to pay at the counter and give him the ticket and only then can I get served. So I go to the counter and order 1 brunch and 1 bagel for my partner who was waiting and reading his newspaper at a table outside in the sun.
The waitress then tells me I cannot order and pay for both a bagel and a brunch at her till. I can pay my brunch with her but I need to order and pay for my bagel at the other till...
I'm tired, hungry, hungover and all I want is a relaxing sunday. By then I was fuming but I kept my cool. She sees my face and says "listen you can pay both the brunch and the bagel here, just give my colleague your ticket after".
I give her colleague my "bagel ticket", fill my dish with food and sit outside. 20 minutes later still no sign of the bagel.
We wait, and finally a waiter comes out, clearly pissed off. "Who ordered a salmon bagel?". We raise our hands and he comes up to us and starts giving out to us: "how the hell am I meant to know where you are sitting if you don't have your table marked on your ticket!" I was so insulted by this incompetent person that my face turned red with furry, and I explained to him with the little patience I had left that it was the waitress that told me to give my ticket to the kitchen. Then he gives me a lecture on what I was suppose to do that I shouldn't have given my ticket bla bla bla. I really had to bite my lip to say nothing but I wasn't far from getting up speaking my mind or worse. Today I am speaking my mind.
I always give places a second chance, I wouldn't be objective if I didn't. So back I go for a second round and it was no better. I remember that their are 2 tills, one for bagels and one for brunches so to avoid problems and confusion I order a bagel. But to my surprise, the bagel till was broken!! So I had to wait in line behind the brunch till and lucky me there was a table of 10 people trying to pay the bill separately. Who took extra eggs in their brunch? You ordered 10 brunches and only 7 have been paid... "Where are the oethr 3? Who is going to pay for them?" Nightmare. While this discussion was going on I was waiting to pay and couldn't. Nobody suggested that I quickly pay my 10€ bill. Nope! Just stand there and wait your turn, which I did with a sarcastic smile thinking to myself "this is the last time I will come here"...
The waiters and waitresses are students who have never worked in their lives ( I was there during the summer months). Terrible and unpractical flow with their stupid 2 till system, they don't communicate well between each other, they are clearly not a team, the manager/ owner isn't there so no leadership, nobody takes responsibility for their actions and more importantly these people are being paid to do their jobs correctly which they are clearly not. (I was a waitress fro 4 years, I know what I'm talking about).
Completely overrated, I put it down to bad management and terrible organization. Shame really because it would be great to have a cool easy going brunch place in that area. But in reality, the last thing you want to do on a sunday morning is go there, its a headache and it could ruin your day.
to get everyone in agreement: the cupcakes sold at the cafe of the press are EXACTLY the same price as those sold in lilicup. 3.00 and 3.50 Not filled the thicket. voila, I hope this has helped you finish this debate. And for other items: it is generally 15% cheaper than Exki easy and 30% less than Starbucks.
Attending daily, I highly recommend this very nice that knew how to give life to this neighborhood a little lacking in what the end of the Avenue Louise. Be appreciated for its warm and relaxed, connected just right, the cheerful staff (with one exception but is), good quality and especially the variety of products offered ... I recommend the vanilla milkshake and the lemon cake to 17h, camped in a comfortable sofa. The only regret is not always efficient service during peak hours, the absence of a true formula breakfast with bread and jam, the website version 1997 that could really scare new customers, and some gaps on the interactivity in social networks ;-) In short, trying without hesitation ...
Dear Lara, if it's me you address, you make mistakes. I do not work at Cafe Press and have never worked. I do have a friend who works there, and the fact that I spend much time I got to know some staff. Nevertheless I think remain objective because: - although I often come, I agree that some server are not the friendliest - although I know some staff they will not invent me a place in the Café .. . I honestly always found a place, and when there were none, time to order or a cigarette, a few chairs / chairs liberating. By cons as I mentioned in my previous comment, on Sunday lunchtime he wants better book, if not actually, it is very difficult to find a place ;)
I am a great frequenter of the Cafe de la Presse, and therefore, I have a little to defend this place that I enjoy so much. I'll answer to Mr / Ms Anonymous. This person said below "The cupcakes riquiquis unimaginative and frankly has more than 3 euros, bagels almost 8 euros ... "The cupcakes come home Lilicup, and I know it is the best in town. € 3 (or more) is a price more than correct, and on their sizes, seriously what you expected, a cake? This is quite normal size of a cupcake, and to be honest, it would be more disgusting. As for bagels, this is a product more "prestigious" a silly sandwich, which is more served with salad and chips. For those who find that prices are high, I personally find the correct most of the time. This is healthy products and FRESH! It is not at Quick. And then there is on the Avenue Louise, this will certainly be a bit more expensive than elsewhere ... But I sometimes also find some products are too expensive, and in these cases I do not hesitate to say so. Regarding the rest of salads / sandwiches served in the fridges, I can not comment because they do not fit my tastes. By cons are always delicious soups, cakes, cupcakes, cookies and pies also. Similarly for teas and coffees, which for some is almost like a pastry! On Saturdays there is an English Breakfast and Sunday brunch, both are a real treat! However, for brunch I urge you to book, otherwise there is little chance that you have a place. Also on Sunday there are usually lots of people, and it is not as pleasant. It's usually quiet this late afternoon. By cons, to meet several people who could talk, I have never felt a lack of space, yet I go to the cafe of the press very often! And I ALWAYS find a place where I sit. Good, and on staff, as everywhere there is everything, and everyone can get up the left foot. I'm not saying this is excusable as long, but seeing as those who are always happy no? It y always! I go there often enough to tell you that I've seen customers laughing with the humor of some servers, it helps to forget the less nice ;)
I discovered the Cafe de la Presse few months ago when arriving in Brussels and I loved it. Do not live very far, I like to ask them to read or work. Accompanied by a latte and a cupcake there is no phone! By avoiding cons on Saturday afternoon where he falls under the mission to find a place. In any case when it finds one, hard not to spend hours ...
In response to VD Lucia, this is not to criticize or to destroy, but when you work there you can not have a neutral opinion. On places, I found an exaggeration to say that is ALWAYS the place, wrong and this weekend we once again had to give up eating here due to space. Around me, friends that are also full of inconvenience. to the wise ...
It is obvious there is a space problem facing the enormous success of the coffee press. Prices are justified by the quality of the product and the quality is rarely associated with the amount (if you're going to ikea and will be something for your money). By doing a quick calculation, knowing that in Cupcake lilycup are already sold 3euro profit margin is not exaggerated and it is the issue bagels Tariffs any warm snack on a little hype finally it is on the staff that we all regret our former waitress :)
It's been a while since I wanted it out and I was not disappointed. The decor is very nice, in a spirit with a little vintage chairs that give a rather cozy. There are a variety of types of coffee, a bit like Starbucks but at a slightly more affordable, especially in real cups, not paper cups. Also large selection of muffins, from cakes and pies. The only downside is that, despite its location just off center, it is already well known and therefore very popular. This is not the place to read a book but rather to enjoy a good latte macchiato topped with whipped cream with friends.
Can not find a seat at the table or chairs, most people who are there "squat" chairs for hours in front of their mac and an empty cup! leaving no opportunity for others to be able to install. prices rise relative to the quality, quantity and I infer that the person who are there remain long history of getting their money.
We've been there for brunch on a Sunday! First surprise, we realize that having phoned over 5 days in advance to book for 3 people, we are placed on a table for 2 people, but very very small table, and we are in full road. We asked to change seats. Done, not without aineux eyes of the waitress. Fortunately, the chef is very friendly, he explains well dishes and laugh. The food is good, we eat and the formula is not expensive. Having taken that at 20 euros, I did not even eat it all ... For large negative points, while crawling servers throughout the pile, there was a pretty pleasant. The other, you ask them a question, well, you really piss off! Moreover, in full during our meal, a waitress goes to our table, takes off the sticky with my reservation, to paste another booking. But my question is, if I had not finished eating? What would have happened? That is clearly telling us, in that hour, you must vacate the table. I do not know, I come on a Sunday at my ease and I did not really want to swarm to eat! TOP CHRONO, you are entitled to an hour to eat! We even heard the waitresses discussed to change our room while we were eating ... For cons is extremely noisy. We started as a table of 15 arrived and it was not possible ... Basically, I think the best solution is to take it away again!
The atmosphere in general is far from bad, but a very inpersonnel home, all the people working there I rarely received a smile or a warm welcome, always very dry! Very expensive price, I very rarely put my feet, I think it's mainly a''wannabe''starbucks except that service quality is not there you are.
I do not understand the praise ... I went there on Sunday: it's like in Paris, it is packed like sardines real! And it's very, very noisy for a desire to wake up gently, it is missed! The concept of small dej buffet is really nice but I find the food served in warm dish is really not good (we even left almost everything), my scrambled eggs were not even salt / pepper, it is to say! In fact, as much food as the place gives the feeling to return to the high school canteen! I do not know what it is the other day but Sunday for brunch, unless you are a teen, avoid!
The srervice is agonisingly slow!! The staff should visit Starbucks or other similar places to see how it can be done. There seems to be a lot of people behind the counter doing something (I don't know what) but each time it is the same person who takes the order and then takes a LONG time to prepare that order while the queue grows longer and longer... It is really a shame since I do like their products.
There are better. Catches are too high for what it is. Tiny cupcakes unimaginative and frankly has more than 3 euros, bagels almost 8 euros ... C is exaggerated! In addition, the service leaves much to be desired and space agency could be better, given the number of people who come with strollers. Space "children" would not be too much .... But hey, not bad overall for Brussels.

Let's start with the negative: Very busy on weekends. So at the cash queue must wait a bit for a table. Bagels tasty, hit the coffee is delicious, large selection of cupcakes, muffins, cakes that are delicious. Prices are a bit high but within the norm for this type of restoration. (Starbucks or Exki practice the same price range and taste for a less quality)
